In Trieste there is a tradition that is perhaps even more heartfelt than Christmas itself: we are talking about St. Nicholas, the favorite celebration of Trieste’s children, who on the night between 5 and 6 December eagerly await the arrival of the Saint bearer of gifts.
It is to him that children write the letter with the list of gifts. But St. Nicholas is a severe type, a bit like the "Befana": if during the year you behaved badly, will bring you only a piece of coal. Something to confess to? 😉
To celebrate this anniversary in style, from 1 to 8 December there will be the great fair of St. Nicholas, which will occupy the entire Viale XX Settembre with stalls and stands of all shapes and colors. If you need inspiration for some cheap gifts, a round here will do for you! 🎁
